Our Mind
Our Focal Point

Let’s face it, our minds are the control center of everything we do and everything we don’t even have to think about doing.  Our minds respond voluntarily, react subconsciously, activate impulsively and many other variations in between. 
Our minds are resilient, our minds are fragile.  Stress and anxiety come in many different forms.  We live in a world full of constant stimulation and relentless responsibilities.  Just as our bodies need moments of rest when they get exhausted, the same applies for our minds.  Stress, sleeplessness, busy schedules and many other factors have a part in preventing our minds from recharging and restoring clear thinking.  Yoga, meditation and mindfulness are powerful tools for combating the craziness of life and finding a focal point to finding calm and relaxation.

Yoga is an ancient practice blending the disciplines of physical postures, breath control and a mindful presence in the moment.  It helps train the body and mind to self observe and become aware of their own nature.  The intention is to increase awareness and decrease disease.  The practice aims to create union between body, mind and spirit, as well as between the individual self and universal consciousness.  Such a union tends to neutralize ego-driven thoughts and behaviors, creating a sense of spiritual awakening.  Benefits are wide ranging.

Mindfulness is a state of active and open attention to the present.  It is time devoted to observing one’s thoughts and feelings without judging them as good or bad.  Mindfulness encompasses two primary factors: awareness and acceptance.  Awareness
provides the knowledge and ability to focus attention on one’s inner processes and experiences.  Acceptance brings ability to observe and accept, rather than judge or avoid, those thoughts.

Meditation Is more of a formal, intentional practice of which we are training our minds by choosing to focus our attention on a specific focal point.  Meditation is the gateway to a greater mindfulness
by concentrated efforts of exercising and strengthening mindful awareness.  Much like muscle need exercise for strength and endurance, 
meditation is our mind’s opportunity to heightened the present moment and regulate emotions.  When we meditate, we practice bringing a greater mindfulness in our daily experiences, decisions and actions.

Becoming or remaining physically active is a monumental part of a purposeful life.  No matter what your life's ambitions are, it only gets done by dedicating yourself to it. Becoming fit doesn't mean the same thing to everyone.  Below are some examples of becoming physically fit:

  2. completing a marathon, obstacle race, fitness competition

  3. improving competence/tolerance to work-related tasks

  4. enhancing recreational skills such as golf, tennis, horseback riding, surfing, etc.

  7. essential for simple life tasks such as reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting activities etc.
